From Melbourne:

Take the Hume Highway from Melbourne towards Wodonga/Sydney.

Continue past the Benella turn off for a further 30 kms. After passing McDonald's, turn off at "Milawa Gourmet Region" exit (C522). Turn right onto Snow Rd and continue for 9 kms until cross road. Continue straight along Snow Rd passing through Oxley and Milawa (and Brown Brothers Epicurean Centre).

Continue another 25 kms before reaching a T-intersection with the Great Alpine Rd (B500). Turn right, and travel 28 kms through Myrtleford before reaching Buffalo Motel and Country Retreat on the right hand side, just before the township of Porepunkah.

 

From Sydney/Canberra:

Take the Hume Highway from Sydney towards Melbourne.

Take the Great Alpine Rd (B500) exit and turn left. Travel about 66 kms along the Great Alpine Rd through Everton, Gapsted and Myrtleford before reaching Buffalo Motel and Country Retreat on the right hand side, just before the township of Porepunkah.

Alternatively, if coming via the Milawa Gourmet Region, continue along the Hume Hwy for 8 kms past the Great Alpine Rd exit. The next sign displayed will be "Milawa Gourmet Region Wineries, Fine Foods This Exit". Whilst still on the Hume Hwy, 50 m prior to the exit, you will see a sign that says, "Wangaratta C523". Take this exit.

The next sign you will see will give you 2 options, "Wangaratta or Greta" - Take the exit to Greta (veer left). At the next intersection you will see a sign that says: "Milawa 13 km". Turn left at this intersection (onto C522) and follow the signs to Milawa. From Milawa, continue as per instructions from Melbourne.

 

Public transport:

There is a V-line bus stop located directly across the road from Buffalo Motel and Country Retreat.

Train travel from Spencer Street Station in Melbourne to Wangaratta takes about 3 hours. A bus links Wangaratta to Bright via Porepunkah.
